Whitbread Maxi Merit

Merit was Pierre Fehlmann’s entry in the 1985–86 Whitbread Round the World Race, representing Switzerland and the Merit watch brand. The boat was part of a strong Farr contingent in that edition of the race, which saw Farr-designed hulls sweep the top positions.

Fehlmann’s programme with Farr Yacht Design across two Whitbread campaigns — Merit in 1985–86 and UBS Switzerland also that edition — made Switzerland an unexpected force in offshore racing’s most demanding event.
