Whitbread 60 New Zealand Endeavour

60’ | Whitbread 60 | 1992
1993–94 Whitbread Round the World Race — Class Winner

New Zealand Endeavour, skippered by Grant Dalton, won the Whitbread 60 class in the 1993–94 Whitbread Round the World Race — the inaugural edition of the class that would define offshore racing through the rest of the decade. Dalton and his New Zealand crew were the benchmark entry in a highly competitive fleet of Farr designs.

The 1993–94 race was the first to feature the Whitbread 60 as the sole grand-prix class, replacing the mixed IOR fleet that had defined previous editions. Farr’s mastery of the new one-design rule was immediate — New Zealand Endeavour set the standard all other teams aimed to match.
