TP52
The TP52 — governed by the International TP52 Class Association’s box rule — has been the defining boat of Grand Prix inshore racing since the early 2000s. Farr Yacht Design has produced more than 20 custom TP52 designs, making the firm one of the most prolific contributors to the class. The 52 SUPER SERIES, the class’s premier circuit, races across major European venues from Porto Cervo to Cascais.
The TP52 rule rewards fast, purpose-built one-designs that balance upwind VMG against aggressive downwind speed. Within the rule’s constraints, Farr’s successive designs pushed the class forward, incorporating advances in appendage design, weight distribution, and sail plan optimisation. The TP52 programme represents Farr’s most sustained engagement with inshore Grand Prix racing across a single class rule.
