The GP42 was Farr’s answer to demand for a purpose-built Mediterranean inshore racer. Roma campaigned the Italian and European IRC circuit, combining the design office’s offshore racing DNA with the shorter, sharper demands of inshore competition. The GP42 class attracted serious amateur programs looking for professional-level performance at an owner-manageable scale.
